Safety
Overview
Tank farm workers perform their jobs in a demanding environment. They work outdoors in summer heat that routinely exceeds 100 degrees and in winter weather with temperatures that can drop below zero. Protective clothing, which sometimes includes respirators or supplied-air equipment, makes the environment even more challenging. In addition to industrial hazards, the nature of their work requires tank farm workers to be highly trained in radiation protection and minimizing chemical vapor exposure.
Despite these obstacles, WRPS is committed to accomplishing its work safely and compliantly. WRPS employees have achieved an exemplary safety record, reaching more than 3 million hours without a lost work day injury in January 2011. Recent work place safety statistics have showed dramatic improvement in key OSHA rating categories.
